Why should you celebrate?
Can you imagine this group of people coming over once a year to shower you with gifts and throw you the best party you have ever encountered?
All in celebration of your Name Day.
In effect, it is like having a second birthday. And yes, nobody will ask you about your age!
Where is Name Day celebrated?
Europeans not only have birthdays, but Name Day as well. Birthdays are usually celebrated just in immediate family. Name Days, however are widely known and celebrated.
Each first name is assigned to one day of the calendar, based on religious traditions, historical events, birthday of a famous person who had the same first name, or on other facts.
For example, the church feast of Saint Michael is held on September 29th, and as a result the Name Day for Michael is on September 29th. In some countries (Greece) Name day is more important than birthday. Gifts include flowers, chocolate, bottle of good wine etc.

you name day follow which country standard one?
It's a tradition for Catholic communities :) Normally celebrated in 2 common ways: The saint's day or the day you were given with the Christian name.

For example the name is Karl or Carl celebrated in January 28 etc...
The saint's day is indicated in most Christian calendar, more uncommon one like Lutheran calendar of saints will be listed as well....Name days originate in the list of holidays celebrated in commemoration of saints and martyrs of the Catholic Church. As Christianity has split the groups out, more and more variations.
Also, one's birthday is noted in Gregorian calendar (what we use in multiply calendar aka standard calendar), also can be calculated in solar, lunar calendars( they have variations like Persian, Julian, Ismalic, Christian calendars etc...very complicated)..all fall in different date haha...interesting civilisation we have :)
